RRED WING, Minn., April 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Central Research Laboratories (CRL) introduces a more compact size of its proven G-LD Telemanipulator series to accommodate the trend toward smaller hot cells. The new G-LDR is designed to fit into a 4.76 inch (121 mm) mount opening which helps reduce the overall space required for hot cells. The G-LDR offers the same proven reliability and operating sensitivity users have come to expect of the G-LD Telemanipulator series from CRL, an industry leader for nearly 70 years

Telemanipulators are used primarily in the radiopharmaceutical and nuclear research industries. The new G-LDR is designed for hot cells in PET radiopharmaceutical production, as well as dispensing and other compact nuclear hot cells where smaller mount openings are required.
"Our new G-LDR was developed in response to changing customer needs," explains Jeff Graupmann, CRL global product manager for remote handling. "Both users and hot cell manufacturers are asking for ways to reduce the space required for a hot cell, while at the same time improving operator sensitivity and system reliability. The smaller size of the G-LDR enables it to fit into a 4.76 inch (121 mm) hot cell mount opening and at a slightly lower installation height. The G-LDR arm design does not require any internal installation room above the mount opening, so this new design makes it possible to reduce the internal height of the hot cell, providing a smaller overall size requirement that can either reduce costs or make room for other installed systems."
CRL offers the G-LDR with base design features including 10 lb. (4.5Kg) load capacity, telescoping operation for precise control, stainless steel RCD tong, ambidextrous handle, and internal shielding. Available add-on options include booting, load hook, motion or tamper locks, Y-Indexing, and external shielding.
"We have grown our telemanipulator business around designing each unit to meet our customer's specific requirements," says Graupmann. "With the G-LDR, we are introducing a more compact design to allow more flexible and cost-effective installations.
